From January 2004 until August 2010 this site was updated weekly. From September 2010 the site is updated monthly, on the last Sunday of each month.

Material and pictures may be added during the month but not on a regular basis. New material added will remain on the site for about one month, and then moved to a permanent place on the site.

The family trees on the site will still be updated as soon as changes or additions are known.

Updates 30th October, 2010 from Hofit, Israel

Congratulations to our son, Moran Segoli, on formally receiving his doctorate earlier this week.
Thanks to Gillian Aronson for sending me some updates to the Shub branch of the Matz family. The Matz family tree has been updated.
I have received some pictures of the closing ceremony of the World Open Bridge Championships. The Israel Under 26 bridge team won the Gold Medal, defeating France in the final in an exciting closely fought match. It was a proud moment when the team was presented with the cup and gold medals as the Israel anthem, Hatikvah, was being played. I have posted a couple of pictures of the team and of me here.
We have finally made the the decision to sell our house in Hofit. We have bought a ground floor apartrment with a small garden about 10 Kms south of Hofit, in Kiryat Hasharon, a suburb of Netanya. It will take a lot of getting used to a small apartment after the luxury of the big, roomy Hofit house. We will probably be moving in the middle of next year.

Updates 23rd October, 2010 from Hofit, Israel

Mazal tov to Uri and Deganit Haberman on the birth of their son, Alon, on 21/10/10. Mazal tov too to proud new grandparents Eitan and Shuli Haberman, and to great-grandparents Sarah and Isaac Olkienitski. The Goldberg family tree has been updated.
Yedioth Aharonoth, Israel's largest newspaper, had a three page article and a front cover picture in its Eilat Magazine section last weekend all about Aviv Levy. The article, in Hebrew, is titled HaMeshakem which translates roughly to The Rehabilitator. It deals mainly with Aviv's efforts to treat and rehabiltate sea animals, especially sharks and turtles, and return them to the sea. The article is extremely positive and a fantastic compliment and appreciation of Aviv. I also learned from the article that when I was Director of Coral World and was away from work, Aviv would bunk school and go to Coral World to "be with the fish.". Updates 3rd October, 2010 from Philadelphia, USA

Watch the Epson Red Sea live broadcast from Eilat on U-tube, about sea horses. Aviv Levy is the star and he gives an absolutely fantastic performance, both on land and in the sea. It's well worth seeing. The family is proud of you, Aviv!
A poster "Fern Levy a friend of Africa" has been placed in the 4 schools where the science labs in her memory were established. It can be seen on the page showing the dedication of the Magqibagqiba school laboratory.
I'm in Philadelphia for the World Open Bridge Championships, where I am a judge.
I've just spent 5 delightful days in Davis, California with the Segolis. Read and see my visit here.

Updates 25th September (from Davis, California)

October birthdays and anniversaries are listed below.
Thank you Wendy Kansky for reviving the family "tradition" of erev Sukkot at her apartment with the Levy family . (See, for example, sukkot 2007). We don't see enough of this side of our family, so we appreciate Wendy's effort. This year in particular we were happy that Nadav Levy came, and it was also our first social meeting with Efrat's husband, Gal, whom we had only seen at their wedding last year. See pictures here.
I'm in Davis California with the Segolis. In a few days time I will be in Philadelphia for the World Open Bridge Championships, where I will be a judge.

Updates 20th September (from Hofit, Israel)

As has become our custom, Doreen and I spent Yom Kippur in Eilat keeping Aviv Levy and family company while Aviv looked after the animals. It was thoroughly enjoyable. Aviv took the three children to help him feed the sharks (see picture), and also gave Itamar his first diving lesson (see picture).
I leave on the 22nd of this month for the USA. I will spend a week with the Segolis in Davis, California, and then go on to Philadelphia for a further 2 weeks + for the World Open Bridge Championships, where I will be a judge.
Doreen will join me in Philadelphia for a few days in mid- October, and then stay on for about 3 weeks after I return to Israel.

Updates 9th September (from Hofit, Israel)

Congratulations to Leah Engleberg and Ziv Forman on their marriage in Colorado at the beginning of the month. They are honeymooning in Mexico and will return to Israel at the ernd of the month.(see Matz family tree.).
Mazeltov to Lital and Dvir Kasorla on the birth of a baby boy, Sha'ar, on September 1, brother to Yonatan. Mazeltov also to grandparents Yaacov and Ziva Bortenstein. ( See Schank family tree.)
Mazeltov to Isaac Olkienitski on his 90th birthday this month.(see Goldberg family tree). Isaac hasn't been too well lately and we wish him a speedy recovery.
A newspaper article about the dedication of the school in my sister Fern's name appeared in the Kwazulu Mercury, and has been added to to the School Dedication site. .

Moran Segoli has updated his site with text (in Hebrew) and great pictures of the South African trip.
We celebrated Rosh Hashanah at home with the Rons and the Aviv Levys. Jonathan (grandson of Hans and Lottie Reijzer and son of Jose and David Keyson) is studying in Israel and joined us together with Steven his roomate and Kailee his cousin from USA. As usual the food was delicious, the company great and Lior won the shofar blowing competition again.
